Dr V. Ashwin Karuppan

Dr. V. Ashwin Karuppan is a senior consultant in Internal Medicine and Diabetology with over 17 years of clinical experience. He holds an MD in Internal Medicine and fellowships from the Royal Colleges of Physicians of Glasgow and Edinburgh, alongside postgraduate training in diabetology. His clinical work spans diabetes and metabolic disorders, complex medical conditions, preventive care and long-term management of chronic illnesses.

He is the Founder and Chairman of Tambaram Medical Center & Research Institute and Founder of Tambaram Medical Foundation. Previously, he served as Head of Department and Senior Consultant in Internal Medicine and Diabetology at Gleneagles Hospital, Perumbakkam. His approach combines evidence-based medicine, ethical practice and coordinated, patient-centred care.

An active researcher and medical educator, Dr. Ashwin has contributed to more than 50 research projects, scientific publications and presentations at national and international conferences. Through Tambaram Medical Foundation, he also supports charitable healthcare initiatives, including subsidised dialysis, diabetes education and medical outreach for underserved communities.

Dr Aafrin Shabbir

Dr. Aafrin Shabbir is a co-founder of C.O.D.E Clinic and a physician trained in Internal Medicine. Originally from Kolkata, West Bengal, she completed her medical education and higher studies in Chennai, where she chose to build her medical career. Her clinical interests include general medicine, diabetes management, and the healthcare needs of women and children, including experience at Apollo Cradle.

She has pursued postgraduate studies in endocrinology through the Royal College of Physicians, London, and presented scientific papers at national and international forums. Her work emphasises preventive healthcare, obesity management and helping women understand their health. She has also led health and wellbeing awareness sessions for young women in corporate settings.

Fluent in English, Hindi and Bengali, Dr. Aafrin believes in making healthcare accessible to people from all backgrounds. She is a founding member of WINRIN Foundation, a self-funded organisation supporting people living with chronic illnesses. Her commitment to community service reflects her belief that compassionate care extends beyond the clinic.
